Some say that on this night Lord Shiva tied the wed-knot with the Goddess Parvati, for the betterment of this whole world. Some say that a devotee performed a Yagna to make Lord Shiva happy.

The true meaning of Mahashivratri is ‘wake the divinity that is deep within you’. And the meditation is the only way which helps in attaining the divinity or the oneness.

This is the Maha-Mantra for spiritual seekers. This is the Mantra which allows the energy to pass through the body and goes directly to the supreme power. By chanting Om Namah Shivaay one can directly go above this materialistic world and attains the very position in the abode of Lord Shiva.
